On Tuesday, Spotify said it’s giving its free audiobooks perk to Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand. People in these places can listen to 15 hours of audiobooks each month for free. Spotify also added 50,000 more titles to its audiobooks list, which now has 250,000 titles. This perk is already in the U.S., U.K., and Australia.
Just two months after declaring itself the second-largest audiobook provider after Amazon’s Audible, Spotify has expanded its audiobooks service. Since its launch in November, users have already listened to over 150,000 titles through the free service.
You can find audiobooks directly in your Spotify app’s Home feed or by using the search tab. Audiobooks marked as “Included in Premium” are available with a Spotify Premium subscription. Keep track of your listening hours in your Spotify app settings. If you need more hours, you can purchase additional 10-hour blocks for CAD $14.99, IRE €12.99, and NZD $19.99.
Spotify has recently introduced a new $9.99 per month plan, offering free users access to its audiobooks collection in the U.S. This plan includes 15 hours of listening, providing Spotify with a competitive edge against Audible. It targets users less interested in music, providing an alternative. Audible’s $14.95 monthly subscription offers one credit to buy a title, whereas Spotify’s $9.99 plan allows 15 hours of listening across its catalog, often enough for multiple audiobooks.
