BSNL telecom is ready to upgrade 4G infra to 5G in 5-7 months and upgrade 1.35 lakh telecom towers the company has in the country. Union telecom and railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw mentioned on Thursday 8th Dec 2022.
The telecom technology development fund will be going to raised from Rs 500 crore per annum to Rs 4,000 crore to encourage indigenous innovation. While speaking at a CII event, the minister said the government has plans to increase it.
“A telecom technology stack will be deployed.” It is a 4G technology stack that will be updated to 5G in five to seven months. “That technological stack will be extended out throughout the country’s 1.35 lakh telecom towers,” Vaishnaw highlighted it.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will provide 5G testing equipment so that the telecom provider may begin 5G service testing.
The minister stated that with the roll-out of 5G across the BSNL network, the public sector business will become a key participant in the telecom arena, particularly for the far-flung places that would not be covered by a usual market mechanism.
