On Monday, Bungie officially announced the postponement of Destiny 2: The Final Shape to June 4th, 2024. This delay is a result of reports came last month, revealing layoffs at Bungie and a decline in Destiny 2 player numbers following the less-than-enthusiastic reception of the Lightfall release.
Approximately 8 percent of Bungie’s workforce faced layoffs, impacting roles in community management, engineering, social media, QA, and more. In response to negative reviews and player sentiments stemming from the Lightfall expansion, Bungie is taking a thoughtful approach to ensure The Final Shape meets expectations.
